Discover Los Feliz

No matter how you pronounce it, Los Feliz is worth checking out. Just east of Hollywood, this walkable, quirky ‘hood has a whole lot of personality, gorgeous homes and plenty of attractions to occupy a free Saturday. Parallel streets Vermont and Hillhurst Avenues are the main thoroughfares you’ll want to park around to be in the beating heart of it all. Lucky for you, you can score a sweet spot on the cheap using the Pavemint app! Here are some of our picks of the best things to do in Los Feliz.

Little Dom’s

This rat pack-style, retro Italian restaurant is a neighborhood favorite and for good reason: It’s a great place for a casual brunch with your buds (they have sunny-side up egg pizza, need we say more?), but also makes for a super romantic dinner date spot. Some local favorite dishes include the wood-oven pizzas, the meatball and mozzarella sandwich or cedar plank salmon with pomegranate and baby celery. And DEFINITELY start off your meal with their decadent rice balls, a mixture of mushroom risotto with fresh mozzarella, parmesan, and provolone rolled in breadcrumbs and then fried. YUM.

Undesigned

Los Angeles is one of the fashion capitals of the world, so it only makes sense that one of its hippest boroughs would be home to this sophisticated, fashion-forward boutique that sells sustainable clothing made from soy, hemp, bamboo and organic and recycled cotton — all designed by its owner, Carol Young, and made right here in LA. Give one of her unique pieces a forever-home in your closet by visiting her boutique. Your closet will thank you, and the environment will too.

Skylight Books

If perusing your favorite books sounds like your idea of the perfect day, check out the hipster haven that is Skylight Books; it’s one of the best things to do in Los Feliz. While you’ll find a carefully curated collection of most of your favorites at this indie bookstore, you’re also bound to find a few new titles from up-and-coming authors. Can’t find something you’re dying to read? No sweat, the staff will order it for you. While you’re waiting, stock up on a few new reads to add to your growing library.

Barnsdall Art Park

No list of the best things to do in Los Feliz could be complete without including this amazingly unique park on Hollywood and Vermont. In addition to the beautiful park itself, Barnsdall’s main facility has hosted both national and international exhibits for decades. Come check out the breathtaking view, the Barnsdall Theatre or Junior Arts Center, or explore the historic Hollyhock House– a sprawling estate designed in the 1920’s by famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright. Better yet, take along a date or a friend and wow them with your art history knowledge.
