How to do Cyber Monday Like a Pro

Cyber Monday

Are you ready to find the best bargains of the year without having to leave the comfort of your sofa? We hope so because Cyber Monday is here and we’re going to help you conquer it. The epic online post-Thanksgiving sale began in 2005 as a way for online retailers to compete with brick and mortar Black Friday sales, and last year, Cyber Monday sales grew to a record $2.98 billion.

So if Black Friday crowds are too scary for you, let Cyber Monday be the magical day you get all of your holiday shopping done with way less madness. And if you follow our advice, you’ll find the best Cyber Monday deals around and the perfect excuse to get yourself a little something special too.

The Big Four

 Amazon

If you’re not already an Amazon Prime member, Cyber Monday is the day you get to be treated like one. That’s right, free shipping for everyone! The online megastore is a great place to get almost anything, so if you’re a one-stop-shop kind of shopper, you can spend your entire Cyber Monday here. Expect to see deals ranging from 30% to 60% off in every department.

Best Buy

Best Buy is a big shot in Black Friday sales, but since Cyber Monday has grown so much in popularity, the electronics giant has extended its sales online too. Check the site on Monday and throughout the week to find amazing deals on TVs, cameras, phones, laptops, and game systems. Standouts include recent Apple releases, GoPro Hero6, Nintendo Switch, and Beats by Dre. The best part about buying from Best Buy is their generous insurance plans so you can keep your treasured electronics safe!

Target

Target is also a heavy hitter on Black Friday, with stores opening at 6 AM for Doorbuster Deals. The mayhem is not unwarranted, considering Target is the place where you can grab a fur mini backpack, a new accent chair, and your cat litter all inside of fifteen minutes. If you didn’t make it to the stores this weekend, don’t worry. Target is keeping the spirit of giving is alive with 15% off of everything online, free shipping, and an extra 5% off for Target RedCard holders.

Walmart

Those with enough courage to brave Walmart’s Black Friday sales are deserving of valor medals. If you’re ‘fraidy cats like us, Cyber Monday is the perfect time to get all of their cheaper-than-cheap deals. And actually, last year, even though “Cyber Week” officially started on Black Friday, the following week had more than three times the number of deals as Black Friday. Our tip: The best way to shop Walmart’s deals is to check the site periodically, as new sale items will be posted throughout the week.

Shop Responsibly

Now that you’ve saved as much money as you can afford to save, you’re going to need to make space in your closet. So what do you do with all of those old clothes and electronics that you no longer want? Some places will buy back your old phones, electronics, and clothing. Others will accept donations.

Send your old cell phones, whether they’re broken or not to EcoATMEco-CellMedic Mobile, or Cell Phones for Soldiers. Any electronic device with a battery can go to Call2Recycle. If you buy a lot from Amazon, check Amazon Trade-In to see if any of your old stuff is eligible to be traded in. Give unwanted textiles new life by sending them to i:CO so they can be reused or recycled. And of course, you can always donate any unwanted clothing, housewares, books, and furniture to your local thrift store.
